Dr. Louretha Adams received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Neuropsychology from Howard University on a full academic scholarship. For the past 15 years, she has taught a range of courses in psychology, including neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, research methods, health psychology, theories of personality, introduction to psychology, and psychology of health and wellness. She has collaborated with research scientists abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, working as a research assistant in biobehavioral health at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). Her work at the HSRC afforded her the opportunity to share her perspective on the future directions of stress and health research in the field of biobehavioral health with the members of the Science Council of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Paris, France. During COVID in the year 2020, she founded, organized, and developed a curriculum for the Neuropsychology Camp for Children program, which offered homeschooled children in the community the opportunity to learn the basic functions of the nervous system. Her future endeavors within academia, outside of teaching, include networking, collaborating with colleagues in research, and identifying areas of need among underrepresented students, as well as the academie needs of all students, to develop or reinvent programs that can best serve them and the department.
