Psychology Clinic
The Baylor Psychology Clinic (BPC) was established in 2005 as a part of the doctoral program in clinical psychology at Baylor University. Currently, the BPC is a training, research, and service unit of the American Psychological Association accredited doctoral training program in Clinical Psychology of the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Baylor University. We provide assessment and therapy services to Waco and the surrounding areas.
Services Provided
Services are provided by doctoral graduate students in Baylor University's Clinical Psychology program under the supervision of clinical psychologists licensed in the State of Texas. Because the clinic is staffed by trainees, our clinic may not be one best fit for all types of mental health concerns. If our clinic is not the best fit, we will refer you to the appropriate resources in the community that will better serve your needs. While we do not accept insurance, services are offered at reduced rate and therapy fees are determined according to a sliding fee scale.
- Psychological Testing: A variety of comprehensive psychological testing and educational assessments related to intellectual functioning (IQ), Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, academic or other mental health difficulties. The fee for assessment is $500. A deposit of $100 is due at the initial appointment. Payment plans for the balance are available upon request.
Therapy Services: Counseling and therapy services are available for individuals (adults, adolescents, and children), families, and couples. Counseling services are provided on a sliding scale fee based on income that range from $5.00 - $35.00.
We can help with the following:
- Depressive Disorders
- Anxiety Disorders
- Trauma-related Disorders
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
- Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD)
- Stress
- Family or Marital Problems
- Adjustments to Changes and Loss
- Struggles in School
- Child Externalizing Behaviors (e.g. temper tantrums,...)
- Play Therapy
- Other Mental Health Concerns
After completing a telephone screening interview, clients are placed on a waiting list for assignment to the next available clinician. Waiting times vary dependent upon clinician and supervisor availability.
Services Not Provided
The Baylor Psychology Clinic is not able to provide emergency services and we do not prescribe psychiatric medications. Individuals who are seeking treatment for a substance use disorder, have recently been released from the hospital, or who need access to emergency services are generally not appropriate for the training clinic. The BPC does not provide child custody evaluations.
If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Please be aware that the BPC is (able to complete paperwork for the TEFA program only for clients who have completed a formal psychological evaluation with the previous 12 months) unable to complete paperwork for the TEFA program after 12 months from the date of the client's last appointment. Clients who require TEFA documentation should submit their request while their case is still active.
